Details of some of the local community groups, clubs and activities are below. Click on their names to go to their websites.

If you are interested in finding a faith group in your local area you can check this list of faith groups such as Mosques and Churches for ones in your suburb.

  • Mt Gravatt Community Centre

    The Mt Gravatt Community Centre can be accessed by all members of the community in a diverse number of ways; individually and groups.  There is a place and space for everyone. Activities and groups include painting, crochet and knitting group, card making, English conversation, computer lessons, sewing group, music groups and senior’s social group.

  • St Marks Uniting Church (Mt Gravatt) - SAGE Group

    Social Activities for Everyone

    If you would like to meet new friends or learn a new skill, then Social Activities Group for Everyone (SAGE) would love to welcome you. Held at St Marks Uniting Church on Wednesdays during school terms from 9.30am to 12.00pm.

    There are a variety of activities on offer and include a variety of arts & crafts, painting, chat, board games, book appreciation, and technology assistance – all free of charge! There is also English immersion, tennis, table tennis, mah-jong, cards, sewing, table games, mosaics and tatting. Morning tea is provided and children are welcome to attend. All ages are welcome.

  • Mansfield Melody Makers

    Non-auditioned community choir. Anyone who wishes to share the love of music and singing is most welcome. There are no auditions and we follow the belief that ‘if you can talk you can sing.’ You don’t need to be able to read music or have ever sung before.

  • Brush Strokes & Beyond ART GROUP

    The “Brush-Strokes and Beyond” Art Group currently meet at the Mt Gravatt TAFE every Tuesday morning commencing at 9:00am through to 1:pm with a break for morning tea at 10:30. The group is open to any person who enjoys painting in any medium whether it be Oils, Acrylic, or Water Colour and enjoys exchanging ideas about different techniques of painting. There is no formal instructions about how to paint, as the group consists of Artists who enjoy painting in a group setting and having social contact with like minded people.  It does not matter if you are a beginner or have lots of experience at painting you will find this group will meet your needs. Group has been running for about 10 years. Mixture of male/female, mostly older participants. Call 3273 6523. Sessions at Mt Gravatt TAFE College. 1030 Cavendish Rd, Mount Gravatt QLD 4122.

  • Musically Speaking

    Group for every day people who are interested in music. This is not a singing group or playing instruments but a music appreciation group.

  • Southside Community Craft Circle

    We knit, crochet, sew and follow other crafty pursuits to make items to be distributed to help our Queensland disadvantaged. All items the group makes donates them to kids in crisis or care or they sell at stalls to raise money to purchase materials for the group.

  • Sunnybank Theatre Group - Seniors Group

    Theatre and drama group for over 50s. Facilitated by a retired drama lecturer from James Cook University. The group works through elements of drama, caters to beginners. The group works on a couple of productions each year. Nerida describes the group as very social and inclusive. Roughly 20 – 25 people involved. Group meets every Thursday from 10:30 – 12:30.

  • Upbeat Arts

    Several creative programs under the Upbeat Arts organisation, tailored to people with mental health concerns. Must have a mental health diagnosis or letter from health care professional demonstrating the program would be beneficial to the individual’s mental health. Mainly for people with disabilities. All programs are currently online.

  • Coorparoo Quilters

    Group of quilters and crafters (around 30 – 50 people) from all over Brisbane. Group has been running for around 30 years. They hold charity days once per month also and have quilting exhibitions once a year.
